Job Announcement (Psychologist)

The Armenian Association of Social Workers, within the framework of the project “Empowering Communities: Comprehensive Social Support and Protection for Displaced Populations,” is expanding its services in Social Work Centers.

Position Objective

The purpose of the Psychologist’s role is to provide professional psychological and psychosocial support to beneficiaries of the Social Work Centers in Hrazdan, Nor Hachn, and Sardarapat, contributing to their emotional well-being, psychosocial stabilization, and resilience.

The Psychologist will work with children, adults, and families in vulnerable situations, including displaced populations, applying trauma-informed and supportive approaches to help individuals cope with stress, loss, and displacement-related challenges.

 

Scope of Key Responsibilities

The Psychologist will be responsible for delivering comprehensive psychological support services, including:

  • Conducting initial and in-depth psychological assessments of individuals and families, identifying trauma-related symptoms, emotional and behavioral challenges,

  • Providing individual psychological counseling to children and adults, using trauma-informed and resilience-based approaches,

  • Supporting beneficiaries in coping with stress, anxiety, grief, and displacement-related difficulties, including crisis situations when necessary,

  • Designing and facilitating group interventions, including therapeutic sessions, psychosocial support groups, and stress management activities,

  • Delivering psychoeducational sessions on coping strategies, emotional regulation, and resilience-building,

  • Providing Psychological First Aid (PFA) and supporting the development of basic psychosocial skills among beneficiaries,

  • Collaborating closely with multidisciplinary team members, including social workers and other specialists, and contributing to case discussions and intervention planning,

  • Maintaining accurate and confidential documentation of sessions in line with ethical and data protection standards,

  • Contributing to monitoring, reporting, and evaluation processes within the program.

Qualifications

  • Higher education in Psychology (Master’s degree preferred),

  • At least 3 years of professional experience in psychological counseling,

  • Experience working with vulnerable populations, including displaced persons, children, and families,

  • Training in trauma-informed approaches and/or Psychological First Aid (PFA) is considered an asset,

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and active listening skills,

  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment,

  • Computer literacy (MS Office and online tools).
