Job Announcement (Mentor)

The Armenian Association of Social Workers, within the framework of the project “Empowering Communities: Comprehensive Social Support and Protection for Displaced Populations,” is expanding its services in Social Work Centers.

Position Objective

The purpose of the Mentor’s role is to support the development of social, communication, and independent living skills among children and youth, contributing to their social inclusion, active participation in education and community life, as well as the development of independent living capacities.

The Mentor will work with children and youth using practical, participatory, and non-formal education methods, fostering self-confidence, self-expression, and the development of social skills. 

Scope of Key Responsibilities

The Mentor will be responsible for the direct engagement with children and youth and the implementation of development-oriented interventions, including:

  • Designing and delivering group-based social skills development programs aimed at strengthening communication, cooperation, and teamwork skills,

  • Supporting the development of peaceful conflict resolution, self-expression, and self-confidence,

  • Developing self-care, time management, and daily living skills among children and youth,

  • Supporting youth in educational and career orientation processes,

  • Organizing practical exercises and simulation-based activities based on real-life situations,

  • Implementing inclusive approaches when working with children and youth with disabilities, adapting activities to individual needs,

  • Applying visual, play-based, and experiential methods to ensure an engaging and safe learning environment,

  • Organizing group sessions, interactive activities, and community events to promote participation in community life,

  • Collaborating with members of a multidisciplinary team and participating in case discussions,

  • Maintaining proper documentation of activities and ensuring the confidentiality of beneficiaries’ data.

Qualifications

  • Higher education in pedagogy, social work, psychology, or a related field,

  • At least 2 years of professional experience working with children and/or youth,

  • Experience working with vulnerable groups is considered an asset,

  • Experience working with children with disabilities is an advantage,

  • Knowledge of group work and non-formal education methods,

  • Strong creative, communication, and interpersonal skills,

  • Motivation and ability to work with children and youth,

  • Computer literacy (MS Office and online tools).
