Call for Applications – Social Worker

Armenian Association of Social Workers is inviting potential candidates to participate in the call for applications (AASW-RISE-007/25) for the social worker's position in Maralik Social House in the frames of "RISE Armenia: Rehabilitation, social inclusion and empowerment of the displaced and vulnerable population" project.

Position: Social Worker (Maralik Social House)
Program Title: "RISE Armenia: Rehabilitation, Social Inclusion and Empowerment of the Displaced and Vulnerable Population" Project

Project Goal:
The Project aims to improve the social protection system in Armenia for vulnerable populations, including displaced persons from Nagorno-Karabakh, by building the capacity of social workers and ensuring the availability of new social services such as patronage, social care, and socio-rehabilitation services.

Program Duration: November 2024 – November 2027

Place of Work: Maralik Social House, Maralik, Shirak Region
Start Date: 10/10/2025
End Date: 01/10/2026 (12 months, with possible contract extension)

1. Scope and Purpose of Work

The main purpose of the Social Worker’s role is to ensure the social well-being of the beneficiaries of the Maralik Social House (elderly persons, displaced individuals, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups) through comprehensive responses to their social, psychological, and daily needs. The Social Worker provides both individual and group work, promotes the inclusion of beneficiaries in community life, ensures the protection of their rights and access to services, and actively cooperates with team members and partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessing the needs of beneficiaries and developing individual intervention plans accordingly.

  • Reducing vulnerability and risks among beneficiaries through tailored approaches.

  • Implementing measures to promote social inclusion, independence, and quality of life.

  • Ensuring community and interdisciplinary collaboration.

The work is based on the core principles of social work: confidentiality, professional ethics, protection of beneficiaries’ rights and dignity, individualized approaches, and the creation of a supportive environment.

2. General Work Requirements

a) Work Format

  • The work is mainly carried out on-site at the Social House, applying individual, group, and community-based methods.

  • The Social Worker regularly conducts assessments of beneficiaries’ needs and risk situations through one-on-one meetings, observation, and documentation review.

  • Group activities are organized based on identified needs, using appropriate social work methods (discussions, educational and leisure groups, socialization groups, etc.).

  • The role includes community meetings, stakeholder discussions, resource mobilization, and close cooperation with regional and local institutions.

  • Documentation of interventions and preparation of reports in line with professional standards and organizational requirements is mandatory.

b) Work Approaches

  • Beneficiary-centered approach, recognizing each individual’s unique needs and potential.

  • Adherence to professional ethics and confidentiality.

  • Interventions must be personalized, inclusive, and empowering, aimed at strengthening independence.

  • Interdisciplinary collaboration involving other professionals and external institutions is prioritized.

  • The work is carried out with respect for social equality, dignity, and non-discrimination, with special attention to protecting the rights of vulnerable groups.

  • The Social Worker is expected to demonstrate flexibility and creativity, combining local resources with innovative professional methods.

c) Organizational Framework

  • The Social Worker operates in accordance with the internal regulations of the Armenian Association of Social Workers.

  • Participation in regular supervision sessions and trainings to foster professional growth and prevent burnout is required.

  • The Social Worker reports to the Supervisor attached to the Social House.

3. Key Duties and Responsibilities

a) Work with Individual Beneficiaries

  • Conduct comprehensive needs assessments using standardized tools.

  • Analyze high-risk cases (violence, neglect, severe health or psychological problems) and develop rapid response actions.

  • Develop individualized intervention plans, reflecting needs, strengths, and goals.

  • Provide regular individual consultations and support the realization of beneficiaries’ social rights.

  • Promote independence through life skills, self-care, and social activity.

  • Maintain beneficiaries’ ties with family, relatives, and the community, fostering social inclusion.

  • Provide information and referrals to appropriate state and non-state services (healthcare, education, legal, social assistance, etc.).

b) Group Work

  • Organize and facilitate group sessions aimed at skill development (communication, financial literacy, healthy lifestyle, etc.).

  • Encourage participation in creative, educational, and recreational groups.

  • Foster a culture of mutual support and solidarity among beneficiaries.

  • Organize group discussions on internal issues of the Social House.

  • Implement interactive and participatory activities to help overcome isolation.

c) Documentation

  • Maintain individual social case files with complete and transparent documentation.

  • Develop and manage databases in line with confidentiality standards.

  • Prepare regular reports on work results.

  • Participate in program and service monitoring and evaluation by providing necessary data.

d) Work with Partners

  • Collaborate with community, regional, and state structures to effectively address beneficiaries’ needs.

  • Organize interdisciplinary case discussions involving specialists from healthcare, education, legal, and other fields.

  • Contribute to mobilizing community resources and expanding beneficiaries’ access to services.

e) Teamwork

  • Work jointly with other professionals (psychologist, nurse, caregivers, supervisor, etc.).

  • Participate in regular team meetings and supervision sessions.

  • Promote knowledge and experience sharing within the team.

  • Support colleagues’ professional development.

  • Fulfill assigned tasks and contribute to organizational processes.

4. Minimum Qualifications

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Higher education or final-year student in Social Work or Social Pedagogy.

  • At least 2 years of professional or volunteer experience in social services.

  • Knowledge of ongoing reforms in Armenia’s social protection system and relevant legal framework.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Membership in the Armenian Association of Social Workers will be considered an advantage.

  • Participation in professional conferences and academic events will be considered an advantage.
