The Armenian Association of Social Workers, within the framework of the “RISE – Armenia: Rehabilitation, Social Inclusion and Empowerment of the Displaced and Vulnerable Population” programme, invites trainers specializing in social work and social protection topics to apply for the AASW-RISE-006/26 competition.

Position: Trainer
Project Title: “RISE – Armenia: Rehabilitation, Social Inclusion and Empowerment of the Displaced and Vulnerable Population” Programme.
The aim of the programme is to improve the social protection system for vulnerable populations in Armenia, including persons displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh, through the capacity development of social workers, as well as through ensuring access to new social services, including patronage, social care and socio-rehabilitation services.

- Purpose and Scope of the Assignment
The work carried out by the trainer aims to ensure the development and delivery of capacity-building trainings for social sector professionals within the framework of the programme, as well as to support the development of participants’ professional knowledge and practical skills.
The trainings are designed for professionals from the Unified Social Service territorial centers, municipal social workers, specialists involved in intersectoral cooperation, representatives of non-governmental organizations, social workers displaced from Artsakh, and managerial staff of social services.
The trainings should apply adult education and experiential learning methodologies, including interactive lectures, case discussions, simulation and role-play exercises, group work, reflective discussions, and practical assignments.
- Duties and Responsibilities of the Trainer
Part 1. Development of Training Content
- Develop detailed training agendas tailored to the educational needs, professional experience, and adult learning characteristics of the target groups.
- Develop thematic training content, including presentations, handouts, guidelines, and practical tools.
- Design descriptions of exercises, role plays, group discussions, and simulation assignments used during the trainings.
- Develop social case stories, situational examples, and practical scenarios for educational purposes.
- Ensure that the training content is aligned with the professional and ethical principles of social work.
- Review and adapt training materials as necessary based on participants’ needs and ongoing discussions.
Part 2. Delivery of Trainings (co-facilitation is envisaged)
- Facilitate trainings while ensuring an interactive, participatory, and safe learning environment.
- Deliver interactive lectures in accordance with the approved agenda.
- Organize and facilitate group work, case discussions, simulations, and role-play exercises.
- Encourage active participation, peer learning, and reflective discussions among participants.
- Take into consideration participants’ specific educational and professional needs.
- Promote professional communication, ethical practice, and collaborative approaches throughout the training process.
Part 3. Evaluation and Feedback
- Organize the collection of participants’ expectations, learning needs, and feedback.
- Support the evaluation process of the trainings by providing relevant information and recommendations.
- Submit a brief post-training report including implemented activities, key outcomes, challenges, and recommendations.
- Thematic Scope of the Trainings
The trainings planned within the framework of the programme include the following thematic areas related to social work, social protection, intersectoral cooperation, and professional resilience.
1) Social Workers Displaced from Artsakh
- Trust-based communication in social work,
- Active listening and counselling communication skills,
- Reflective approaches and professional self-awareness,
- Professional boundaries and ethical dilemmas,
- Management of emotional burden and secondary trauma,
- Self-care and professional resilience tools.
2) Unified Social Service Territorial Centers and Community Social Workers
- Professional thinking in social work,
- Identification and assessment of social risks,
- Rapid response strategies in crisis situations,
- Professional boundaries and ethical decision-making,
- The use of storytelling in social work.
3) Intersectoral Groups
- Practical mechanisms of intersectoral cooperation,
- Referral systems and case transfer processes,
- Analysis of cooperation gaps and systemic barriers,
- Multi-sectoral case intervention,
- Assessment of community resources and support networks,
- Horizontal models of cooperation.
4) NGO Representatives
- Identification of social risks and community response,
- Approaches to the protection of vulnerable groups,
- Community support and referral mechanisms,
- Intersectoral cooperation and case coordination,
- Ethical practice and safe representation of beneficiaries,
- Communication and beneficiary-centred approaches.
5) Service Managers
- Leadership and decision-making in the social protection system,
- Interagency and intersectoral coordination strategies,
- Service organization and management approaches,
- Systemic cooperation and referral policies,
- Management accountability in the field of social protection.
- Minimum Qualification Requirements
- Higher education in Social Work or Psychology (Master’s degree is an advantage),
- At least 7 years of professional experience in the field of social work,
- Experience in developing and delivering trainings for social service professionals,
- Knowledge of the social protection sector, social work principles, and ethical standards.
