
Artsakh State University Launches Three-Day Course for “Social Work” Graduate Program Lecturers

Today, on April 29, a three-day course for lecturers involved in the Master's program "Social Work" was launched at ArPU.
The Association of Social Workers of Armenia and the Faculty of Sociology of Yerevan State University (YSU) are introducing a master's program in the field of "Social Work" in Artsakh State and Mesrop Mashtots Universities. The implementation of the master's program is carried out with the support of the Artsakh government and the Armenian educational institution through the project entitled: "Effective implementation of the social services system and strengthening of the workforce for the sake of a resilient Artsakh".
The Armenian educational institution supports the development of the capacities of the workforce of the social sphere in Artsakh, the effective implementation of the system of social services, as well as initiatives focused on alleviating stress among specialists in social, educational, and health spheres.
Today, a three-day course for lecturers involved in the Master's program "Social Work" was launched at ArPU.
Vice-rector of the University of Science and Technology, associate professor Vitya Yaramishyan, welcomed the beginning of the course, noting: "There is usually uncertainty in the beginning of each new program, but not in this case. Especially after the war, there is a need to introduce a social worker institute in Artsakh. I welcome the program and emphasize that ArPU will become a training university in the ‘Social Work’ specialty."
The course is conducted by the head of the chair of social work and social technologies of the Faculty of Sociology of YSU, Ph.D. Artak Khachatryan, who presented the curriculum of the master's program to professors.
"Ever since the war, the labor market has had a demand for more social workers. And in this common work of ours, we try to be useful by contributing our experience and knowledge. The program will last 1.5 years. We will train both professors and students at the same time," said A. Khachatryan.
