Five information sessions were implemented in in central towns of the Project target marzes

Within the framework of the Project, 5 info-sessions were conducted with the participation of representatives of regional administrations, local self-government bodies and social services, during which the measures envisaged by the Project were presented.

In December 2020, the Armenian Association of Social Workers (AASW) officially announced the launch of “Promoting Social Inclusion and Self-Reliant Livelihood Activities in Armenia” grant Project. The Project was developed in cooperation with the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of the Republic of Armenia and implemented under administration of World Bank funded by the Government of Japan through the Japan Social Development Fund (JSDF).

Within the Project during the last month, info-sessions were organized in the target marzes with the participation of the relevant representatives of the regional government, heads and representatives of the territorial centers of the Unified Social Service. The last info-session was conducted in Artashat town of Ararat marz on July 15, 2021. The Project representatives presented Project objectives, tasks, the planned activities, the mechanisms of beneficiary selection.



The Project aims to provide various social services to the families registered in the family benefit system, to strengthen the capacities of the social service workers working with them. It is envisaged to improve the social situation of more than 11,000 citizens in five marzes (regions) of Armenia: Ararat, Armavir, Kotayk, Lori and Shirak through the development and adoption of social case management system as well as promotion of entrepreneurship.

As a result of the Project, 200 social workers from the terrirorial centers of the Unified Social Service and community social workers will have the opportunity to acquire and develop knowledge and practical skills in social case management. In particular, social workers will develop the skills and need-based approaches of individual social case management, thus increasing the efficiency of services provided to beneficiaries. Accordingly, such an approach will be introduced in the social protection system presupposes a complex, comprehensive response to challenging cases, preventing and overcoming the vulnerability of beneficiaries.



“Together with the social workers of the Unified Social Service, we will try to find people who have the will to change their lives, who are ready to take care of their family by self-employment”,- said Mira Antonyan, the President of Armenian Association of Social Workers.

The organization of regional information meetings was carried out with the assistance of the MLSA Unified Social Service. Zara Aslanyan, Head of the Division of the Methodological Support of Social Work and Supervision of the Department of Social Work and Social Services of USS, took part in regional meetings, answered the questions of the participants and emphasized the importance of the development of social work and social case management.

Within the Project for the selected beneficiaries an opportunity will be created overcome the obstacles of having a source of income and to develop their entrepreneurial skills. At least 300 families will be selected from the beneficiaries, who will be receive project sub-grant equivalent to 4 thousand US dollars. “A key feature of the Project is the synergy of social work and the promotion of entrepreneurial initiatives envisaged by its two main components, which will bring new quality, new approaches and as a result, will cause significant positive changes in the lives of the beneficiaries”,- said the Ruben Markosyan, the Manager of the Project.
