Promoting Social Inclusion and Self-Reliant Livelihood Activities in Armenia

ABOUT PROJECT

The three-year program "Promoting Social Inclusion and Self-Reliant Livelihood Activities in Armenia" aims to provide comprehensive assistance to about 11,000 vulnerable individuals in poverty in five regions of Armenia: Ararat, Armavir, Kotayk, Shirak, Lori, promoting their self-sufficiency and inclusion in society.

The project is funded by the Government of Japan through the Japan Social Development Fund (JSDF) and implemented by the Armenian Association of Social Workers under the administration of the World Bank and in cooperation with the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of the Republic of Armenia.

PROJECT COMPONENTS

DEVELOPMENT ՕF SOCIAL CASE MANAGEMENT

As a result of the Project, 200 social workers, including case managers of territorial centers of social service and community social workers, will have the opportunity to acquire and develop knowledge and practical skills to effectively implement the social case management. In particular, social workers will develop the skills to work individually with the case, to act with need-based approaches, thus increasing the efficiency of services provided to beneficiaries. Accordingly, an approach will be introduced in the social protection system, which implies a complex, comprehensive response to problematic cases, preventing and overcoming the vulnerability of the human situation.

 ENTREPRENEURSHIP PROMOTION ACTIVITIES

The three-year Project aims to improve the quality of life of at least 11,000 beneficiaries involved in state social benefit programs by promoting self-employment and through providing social worker services.

Within the framework of the Project at least 300 vulnerable individuals (of which at least 40% women) will recieve small business sub-grants (4000$ each) to implement their own business ideas.

At the same time, multifaceted work will be carried out to identify available resources and find real opportunities for people living in extreme poverty to overcome it. These activities will be carried out with the direct participation of the beneficiaries. They will also have the opportunity to receive professional advice, support for self-employment or creating their own source of income.
