The project aims to strengthen the role of marginalized youth (aged 14-17 and 18-21) in democratic processes by systemizing cooperation between youth and local government authorities. Newly established mechanisms for knowledge sharing on social and public policy issues will equip youth with relevant knowledge and skills in human rights, effective interaction with local government, youth participation and inclusion, as well as community development plan and advocacy.
This will enhance their managerial skills and support the development and implementation of local plans on pertinent community social, environmental and other issues.
YDEEP promotes experiential learning and enables youth to become proactive citizens by developing personal, social, and professional skills.
The project addresses the issue of inadequate recognition and representation of children and young people in Armenian society by providing a platform for youth to voice their opinions and participate as active members of the community.
Through a comprehensive multi-stakeholder approach, YDEEP establishes sustainable mechanisms for youth inclusion in policymaking and governance, ultimately contributing to the advancement of democracy in Armenia.
The project promotes youth-driven efforts for enriching and empowering democracy in Armenia, ensuring that young people have a say in shaping their communities' future.
EMPOWERING AND CAPACITATING YOUTH
One of the main Project's expected results is the created and enabled environment for youth-driven democratic processes on a local level, which will allow young people to have meaningful participation and input in community action programs including human rights and social justice, electoral processes, and community mobilization. This will be possible by capacitating young people to maximize their engagement and advocacy skills for community issues and promoting social dialogue between youth and local government by establishing a long-term institutional mechanism in the form of the Youth Council.
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AND KNOWLEDGE SHARING
Through the Project activities a local community plan will be developed by the members of the Youth Council attached to the Council of Elderly at the Municipality, and some of the Projects from the Community Plan will be piloted. In the later stages, the Youth Council will promote and implement knowledge-sharing activities among the young people in their and neighboring communities.
