A meeting conducted in Kotayk within the framework of regional info-sessions
The “Armenian Association of Social Workers” NGO organized an info-session in Kotayk Marzpetaran (regional administration), to present a new three-year “Promoting Social Inclusion and Self-Reliant Livelihood Activities in Armenia” Project acting in the field of social protection and discussed opportunities for cooperation in Kotayk Marz.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the RA Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, specialists of relevant subdivisions of Kotayk Marzpetaran, heads of custodianship and trusteeship commissions, as well as representatives of regional centers of Unified Social Services operating in Kotayk and representatives of different communities.
At the meeting, the Project representatives introduced the main objectives of the Project, the supporting structures, the circle of beneficiaries, the procedure for their selection, the role of local self-government bodies and social workers.
The President of the “Armenian Association of Social Workers” Mira Antonyan, emphasizing the demand of social workers with relevant professional qualifications, abilities and skills, clearly formulated by various state and private structures in the current crisis, noted that at present the RA social protection system undergoes intensive structural reforms when key social services are being reorganized. These reforms are an opportunity to focus on the best interests of the beneficiary and the social worker. In this context, the Association of Social Workers intends to develop a new social cases methodology within the framework of the Project, and test poverty reduction through clear innovative mechanisms of activation and inclusion, which will allow to be more prepared and resilient in the process of responding to various social risks.
According to Advisor on Specific Functions of the Structural Units of MLSA of RA Evgine Vardanyan, within the framework of this Project developed jointly with the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, it is envisaged to provide various social services to families registered in the family benefit system, or appeared outside the system, as well as to enhance the capacity of social workers.
The Project Manager Ruben Markosyan noted that the Project consists of two main components, which aim to bring reforms in the practice of social work, which will make professional work with vulnerable groups more effective, will create opportunities for people living in difficult socio-economic conditions to get out of poverty. During the Project implementation beneficiary families will be selected, that will get a chance to overcome the obstacles of having a source of own income and to develop their entrepreneurial skills.
